Deli 4 You is a Polish market owned and operated by a husband and wife team who brought an authentically European approach to grocery retail to the Chicago suburbs. The store's identity is built around the products Poland is known for, deli meats, sausage, smoked fish, and baked goods, and the lighting needed to reflect that identity from the moment a customer walked through the door.

JLH Lighting designed and supplied the lighting for the full customer-facing space across approximately 12,000 square feet of new construction, covering the sales floor and behind the service cases. The approach taken here was unlike any other project in the JLH portfolio. Drawing on fixtures from a European manufacturer alongside Luxco, the design incorporated multiple color temperatures and two specialty light outputs tuned specifically for the store's hero products.

Special Meat is a light output engineered to pull out the rich reds of fresh and deli meats, making the product case a visual centerpiece rather than a background element. For a store where deli is a primary draw, that distinction matters. Golden Bread does something similar for baked goods, emphasizing the warm tones that make a loaf look like it just came out of the oven. In a market where the bread case is as important as the meat case, both outputs earned their place in the design.

The multi-fixture, multi-color-temperature approach created a layered, European-inspired atmosphere that is genuinely difficult to replicate with a conventional single-fixture strategy. It is also worth noting honestly that this level of complexity comes with a maintenance consideration. A store with six fixtures that look identical but output different color temperatures requires careful tracking to ensure replacements are made correctly. It is an approach best suited to an owner who understands and is committed to that level of detail. In the case of Deli 4 You, it was exactly the right call.
